Project Controller (Planning)

Project Controller (Planning)

Gloucestershire

I am recruiting Project Controllers and Project Planners for permanent positions supporting complex defence engineering programmes in Bristol. These are hands-on project planning and controls roles, with a particular focus on creating and maintaining project schedules.

If you have used Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or another professional scheduling tool to build, update or analyse real project plans, I would be interested in hearing from you.

The opportunity
  • Salary of 45K- 50K for typical appointments, with flexibility towards 52K for exceptional candidates.
  • Permanent positions in Bristol with hybrid working, normally around 2-3 days per week onsite depending on the programme and onboarding.
  • Work with engineering, delivery and commercial teams on complex projects where planning information is used to make delivery decisions.

What you would be doing
  • Creating, maintaining and validating project schedules, milestones, dependencies and baselines.
  • Assessing progress, schedule variance, critical paths, potential delays and the effect of change.
  • Supporting schedule risk analysis, performance reporting and forecasting across time, cost and resources.
  • Working with Project Managers and Project Controls colleagues to identify problems and support corrective action.

What we are looking for
  • Practical experience personally building or maintaining project schedules using P6, Microsoft Project or comparable professional scheduling software.
  • Experience of baselines, progress updates, schedule logic, project performance data and change control.
  • A background in defence, aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or another complex technical project environment.

Primavera P6 is highly desirable, although candidates with substantial Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling experience can be considered. Exposure to Earned Value Management, Schedule Risk Analysis, resource planning, NEC contracts or wider Project Controls would be useful rather than mandatory.

Eligibility and location

British citizenship and eligibility for the relevant UK security vetting are required for these defence appointments. Dual British citizens may be considered subject to the particular programme. Existing security clearance is not essential. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK as visa sponsorship is not available.

You must be able to attend the Bristol location around 2-3 days per week. Some onboarding periods may involve additional onsite attendance.

Interested?

Apply with your CV and, where possible, show which schedules you have personally created or maintained, the tools you have used and how your planning work supported project delivery. If you are also open to related defence Project Controls consultancy positions, we can discuss those separately when appropriate.

Salary: £45,000 to £52,000 Annual +

Hours Per Week: Full Time
