Job Description Renishaw’s Encoder Products Division (EPD) designs and supplies cutting-edge position feedback technology to the world’s precision measurement, automation, and manufacturing industries. It is highly likely that something you own contains a part or device that was manufactured with the help of one of Renishaw’s encoder products. EPD is made up of engineers, scientists and technicians all working together to produce market leading products for sale around the world. We start with cutting edge optical, algorithm and circuit design, even developing our own ASICs and sensors where required. Our mechanical engineering teams then turn our core technology into a range of innovative products for our broad customer base. Working closely with colleagues in our manufacturing division, we develop manufacturing and assembly processes and software to deliver quality products by the hundreds of thousands that in turn, perform reliably and repeatedly to sub-micron accuracies for our customers. A Project Manager is required to work with multi-disciplinary design teams to oversee and drive new product development projects. The successful candidate will apply Renishaw’s new product development process to support the development of innovative technologies and the launch of new products. They will be responsible for capturing and delivering to agreed project outcomes by applying project management best practice. Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of new product development projects following Renishaw’s product innovation process. Responsible for the successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closure of key projects. Agree on project approach with stakeholders and prepare realistic project plans (including scope, required resource, schedule, quality, risk, and communication plans). Track activities against the project schedule. Provide effective leadership to the project team and drive progress. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring interdependencies are managed effectively. Monitor project progress, identifying and addressing issues proactively. Manage project documentation in line with Renishaw’s product innovation process. Identify, mitigate, and escalate risks and opportunities as appropriate. Regularly report on project status and risks, communicating through the written word, conversations, and presentations. Key requirements A project management qualification (e.g. APM, Prince2), or equivalent experience. Proven ability to manage new product development projects through to product launch and project completin. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to lead project teams. Experience applying project management best practice and methodologies. Experience of project risk management. Effective communicator and influencer at all levels. Desirable requirements Understanding of metrology and optical measurement technology. Good technical awareness and understanding of design functions. Problem solving experience. Experience working with remote team members. APM PMQ Qualified. A Degree or HND in an engineering or scientific discipline. Or the ability to demonstrate comparable applied knowledge and expertise. Person specification The successful candidate will have a high level of self-motivation and be a team player, with a positive attitude to problem solving. They will be pro-active, a completer, highly organised and also flexible in their approach to meet the needs of the day to day project environment and driven to meet deadlines and achieve targets.
