Job Description Location Wotton-under-Edge Salary up to £55,000 Depending on experience An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Styli and Fixturing Product Division for a Lead/Senior Project Manager. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for achieving success in all new and current product project activities across the division, as well as leading the Project Management and Technical Administration teams. Working directly with the management team, this role will take responsibility for owning and driving the divisional project roadmap, whilst making sure our standard and custom product projects and process meet our customers’ expectations, keeping Renishaw at the forefront of our market. The division is made up of three product families: Styli, Fixturing, and Machine Tool Custom Products. This creates a varied and fast-paced project environment, with projects ranging in size and complexity. In some cases, providing the opportunity to experience the full project lifecycle several times each year, often working with cross-functional teams across the division, Group Engineering, NPI, Purchasing and manufacturing sites in the UK, Ireland and India. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Project Manager who is ready to progress into a Lead role, or for an experienced Project Manager looking to step into a Senior role with a clear pathway to Lead in the future. Both opportunities include line management responsibility for the Project Management and Technical Administration teams. The role will be based at our New Mills site near Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire. Travel to other sites may also be required depending on the business need. Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of new product development and current product projects using Renishaw’s Product Innovation Process Coordinate the multi-disciplinary activities of the SFPD teams, other Renishaw divisions and external suppliers, in order to achieve project deliverables and objectives Create and maintain project plans and priorities, ensuring process, regulatory compliance, and good working practices are adhered to Coordinate, define project scope and be accountable for all divisional projects Manage project cost and resource requirements throughout the project lifecycle Resolve problems, ensuring completion of tasks to agreed time, cost, and quality targets Regularly report on project status and risks to divisional management and other stakeholders through various channels (including verbal presentations and written documentation). Utilise lessons learnt to provide input to improve our divisional processes and performance Be an ambassador for your projects and area, to all levels of the Renishaw Group Champion improvement of project management tools and practice, through project experiences and industry best practice Support project management initiatives / process improvement activities both within divisions and across the business Daily line management responsibilities for the Project Management and Technical Administration teams within SFPD Support the career development of each team member and act as a mentor and role model to strengthen the overall function Key requirements A degree or similar qualification in a technical or project management discipline, or the ability to demonstrate comparable applied knowledge and expertise Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to motivate and inspire Proven ability to manage new product development projects through to completion Experience of project coordination and risk management in an engineering environment Able to work effectively as part of a diverse and global team, but also able to work independently as well to drive success Good computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications Strong knowledge of project planning and project management techniques Good technical awareness and understanding of design functions and engineering change processes A full UK driving licence Desirable requirements Recognised project management qualifications (APMP/PMQ) Engineering specific project management experience Understanding of Styli, Fixturing and/or Machine Tool product designs/technology/manufacturing processes Strong understanding of Renishaw’s processes and internal systems, such as Syteline, PDM, Teamcenter and Sage Experience of Design/Process FMEA Experience of managing a team, including working with remote team members Person specification The successful applicant will have a high level of personal discipline and motivation, with a keen sense of responsibility for the success of their work. They will enjoy learning and developing their own abilities, and those of their team. They will be proactive, highly organised, and also flexible in their approach to meet the needs of the day-to-day project environment, being driven to meet deadlines and achieve targets. An effective communicator in the technical and business domains, they will be able to prioritise work effectively under pressure of conflicting requirements.
