Buyer
Stonehouse
Role Purpose
To manage the end-to-end procurement of high-value components, ensuring 100% availability for the production schedule. You will be responsible for sourcing everything from specialist capacitors to bespoke CNC-machined chassis, maintaining a balance between exquisite quality and commercial viability.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Manage a portfolio of niche UK and international suppliers (e.g., luxury components, PCB houses, and metal finishers).
Strategic Sourcing: Identify and onboard new suppliers capable of meeting "luxury" standards. Conduct site audits to ensure their quality control matches your brand's prestige.
Direct Procurement: Execute Purchase Orders (POs) based on the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Bill of Materials (BOM).
Inventory & Lead Time Management: Proactively manage long lead-time items (e.g., specialized semiconductors or custom-tooled drivers) to prevent production bottlenecks.
Cost & Value Engineering: Negotiate pricing without compromising on material "feel" or performance. Work with Engineering to find cost-effective alternatives for non-critical parts.
Quality Liaison: Work closely with the Production and Inspection to resolve supplier quality issues and manage the "Return to Vendor" (RTV) process.
Candidate Profile
The Mindset:
A genuine appreciation for high-end engineering. You understand that a "brushed aluminum" finish has a specific aesthetic value that cannot be substituted by a cheaper alternative.
Commercial Acumen: Proven experience in a UK manufacturing SME, ideally within electronics, automotive, or high-end interiors.
ERP Proficiency: Comfortable using MRP systems
Communication: The ability to speak the "language" of an engineer (tolerances/specs) while maintaining the "language" of a business (margins/contracts).
Ability to work with and build bills of materials (BOMS)
Technical Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a Procurement/Buying role.
- Experience reading 2D technical drawings to understand what you are buying.
