About the role
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Job Coach to work with our amazing learners supporting them into employment.
Joining our experienced Job Coach team, you will be working with our learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to find opportunities and support them into employment or voluntary work that meets their aspirations. Based primarily at our main site in Ullenwood on the outskirts of Cheltenham, you will also be supporting students at our Learning Centre in Cheltenham and across Gloucestershire.
We would like you to have access to your own transport to visit other sites and to support your learners through their work placement programmes.
You will work with the individual learner to develop their skills, confidence and independence to take their first step into employment. Your role will be varied and will include visiting employers and supporting learners to acquire and maintain employability skills through training and work experience, on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. Training and support will of course be provided to develop your skills.
We have opportunities for learners both with external organisations and within the college and the role will also include supporting students to manage a small college store, including some responsibility for stock processes and end of day reconciliation which offers a great opportunity for students to build practical work, academic and lifelong learning skills.
You will bring enthusiasm, energy and commitment, along with great communication skills, initiative, self-motivation and good written skills. You will seek and establish opportunities with employers using your influence and networking skills to broker work outcomes. You will build rapport and support the learner and employer with the work placement, whilst also linking with parent/carers, and other National Star teams. Keeping sight of each learner’s individual goals, you will plan practical work and lifelong learning skills that meet their needs, administering accurate and detailed records of assessment and learner progress.
We are offering a part time 19 hours a week (0.46 FTE) 42 week permanent contract and a part time c15 hours per week (0.37 FTE) 42 week maternity cover contract (possibly until Spring 2026) but can combine both the roles if necessary. The department is an area of growth, so could lead to more hours in the future.
