Job Title: Employment Mentor

Location: Cheltenham

Contract Type: 30–37 hours per week

Contract Length: Temporary – until the position is permanently filled

Start Date: ASAP

Rate: £14.26 per hour

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and supportive Employment Mentor to work with students on a Supported Internship programme. The role focuses on helping young people develop the skills, confidence, and experience needed to move into sustained employment. This is a varied role involving time spent at employer sites, in the classroom, and working closely with internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one job coaching and in-work support to Supported Internship students at their work placements.
  • Support learners during classroom-based sessions one day per week.
  • Liaise with employers to gather feedback on student performance and support target setting and progression.
  • Monitor, observe, and track potential interns in collaboration with the wider Foundation Studies department to support future cohort planning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and engagement.
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging independence, employability skills, and professional behaviour.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full, valid driving licence (essential, due to off-site visits to work placements).
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital record-keeping systems.

Desirable Skills and Attributes

  • Experience working with young people or individuals with additional support needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple locations.
  • Organised, adaptable, and solution-focused approach.
