Position: Teaching Assistant with HLTA Responsibilities
Reports to: Class Teacher/SENCO
Hours: 30 hours per week.
These will be Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 3.15 pm
Term time only + Inset
Grade: 5 Scale 12-14
Contract: Permanent (following a successful 3-month trial period)
Start Date: September 2026 (Handover days during Term 6 would be beneficial)
We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant with HLTA responsibilities to work alongside the teaching staff to support the learning needs of children across the school, providing interventions and additional support when required.
This position would be suitable for an NQT

Job Purpose
• To support staff with their responsibility for the care, development and education of children, including those with SEN.
Duties and responsibilities;
• To work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management /preparation of resources.
• Staff may also supervise whole classes occasionally during the short-term absence of teachers.
• Staff will also be expected to provide support and cover for 1:1 TA, if needed, as well as provide cover for other staff during break and lunchtimes when required.
• Staff will also be required to cover playground supervision at the start of the day, as the children come onto the site.
SUPPORT FOR PUPILS
• Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills/training/experience to support pupils
• Assist with the development and implementation of MyPlans and MyPlan+ and EHCP
• Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom
• Support pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs
• Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities
• Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance
