Sheepscombe is an innovative small Primary School set in a beautiful rural village, with a motto to ensure that all our children flourish. Our Clerk will work with and assist our dynamic and committed governing body, to ensure its efficient and smooth operation.

The main role of the clerk is:

(a) to organize Governing body meetings, by setting and distributing agenda, attending meetings to take notes and produce minutes, disseminating and filing related information and documents, and

(b) to ensure effective terms of office by governors by providing introduction to new governors, keeping track of attendance, expiry dates, appointments and resignations to ensure that timely action is taken to fill vacancies

We are looking for a candidate with good clerical skills with an eye for accuracy, communication skills both in speech and in writing, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and 365 platform applications (including Teams and OneDrive) and a high level of tact, discretion, and respect for confidentiality. An interest in Education as well as knowledge and experience of school governance would be helpful but is not essential, and training will be provided.

The position is part-time and offers significant flexibility, except for the dates and timing of the meetings (usually 8 in a year: 5 evening meetings, which are usually face to face, and 3 lunchtime meetings which are usually virtual). These will be set at the beginning of the school year, and the clerk is expected to attend these meetings.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Monday 10th August 2026 at noon.

Interviews will take place between 17th-20th August 2026.
