You will receive extensive in-house training, complemented by Forensic Laboratory Foundation and Foundation Fingerprint courses, giving you hands-on experience with forensic techniques that directly support criminal investigations. Working closely with experienced practitioners and under the guidance of the Chemical Development Laboratory Team Leader and Forensic Analysis and Chemical Laboratory Manager, you will play a vital role in developing latent forensic evidence to the highest professional standards.

The role provides the opportunity to develop specialist skills in fingerprint development and comparison, footwear mark examination and comparison, and chemical enhancement techniques used to recover latent forensic evidence. Much of the work requires prolonged periods of concentration, carrying out detailed examinations, routine laboratory processes and meticulous record keeping. Success in the role relies on patience, accuracy and consistency, with the ability to maintain high standards when undertaking repetitive tasks.

You will be responsible for producing comprehensive notes and documentation, maintaining accurate audit trails, and handling evidence in accordance with established procedures, quality standards and evidential requirements. Every examination must be completed with care and attention to detail to ensure the integrity of forensic results.

This is a challenging and rewarding role for someone with a keen eye for detail and a desire to contribute to the pursuit of justice, while working in full compliance with ISO accreditation standards and the Forensic Science Regulator's Codes of Practice and Conduct.

The successful candidate for this role will be vetted at level Staff RV. This means the individual will need at least 3 years worth of residency in the UK.
