Be the spark that brings your community together!
Are you someone who sees the best in people? Do you believe that the strongest solutions come from within communities themselves? Forest Voluntary Action Forum is looking for a Neighbourhood Connector to help families with children aged 0-5 build powerful, caring networks in Coleford and surrounding areas.
What makes this role different?
This isn't about delivering services or fixing problems for people – it's about connecting with them. Working alongside the Children and Family Centres, you'll be a 'relationship weaver', uncovering hidden talents, passions and resources in your neighbourhood, then helping people use their own gifts to create positive change.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Getting out and about, meeting people and discovering what makes your community tick
- Building authentic relationships and strengthening social networks
- Inspiring community-led activities where local people take the lead
- Supporting families who may have become isolated to connect with their neighbourhood
- Celebrating successes and fostering a culture where everyone feels valued
What we're looking for:
- A proactive communicator and listener who sees the strengths in people and communities.
- Someone with a strengths-based mindset, curiosity, humility, and a genuine desire to learn from others.
- A relationship-builder who thrives on connecting diverse groups and is emotionally present in the neighbourhood.
- No specific qualifications required – just passion, creativity, and commitment.
Desirable:
- Driver with access to a car.
What we offer
- Competitive pay and generous annual leave (25 days pro rata, rising with service)
- Permanent contract
- Flexible and remote working opportunities
- Excellent training and development programme with dedicated budget
- Employer-supported volunteering (up to one week per year)
- Pension scheme
- Team building days and social gatherings
- A supportive, passionate team that lives its values
