About the role
StarBistro at National Star in Ullenwood on the outskirts of Cheltenham, is no ordinary eating establishment – we have recently been named Tripadvisor 2025 Travellers’ Choice Award Winner and work tirelessly to provide an excellent service to our customers as well as a training opportunity for our students.
A group of enthusiastic students with disabilities are using StarBistro as the training ground for their future careers. They work in the kitchen, front of house and behind the scenes to develop their hospitality and customer service skills.
We are looking for a Front of House Team Leader who will not only help us to provide the highest standard of food and drink service to our internal and external customers by managing the day to day running of the service but will also be an inspirational mentor to provide on the job training for our learners who have a range of physical and/ or learning disabilities to participate in daily Front of House and some related kitchen working practices.
Unusually for a hospitality role, whilst we expect you to be willing to help out very occasionally at special evening events or at weekends, the role is mostly Monday to Friday. Your shifts may vary but will generally fall between 8 am and 5pm working mostly term time, plus an extra 4 weeks to help us cover staffing and special events.
With previous Front of House and staff supervision experience, you’ll need to be a motivated self-starter and a first-class team player. You will be able to balance priorities and work under pressure whilst maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
Whilst we would expect you to have a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate don’t worry if you haven’t got experience mentoring young people with disabilities. We’re experts in this field and will be happy to teach and support you.
We recognise that it is a busy time of the year so please apply as soon as you are able to – Interviews will be held 7 January 2026.
