HOURS: The role is for 10 hours/month. This consists of 3 supervision sessions, each lasting 1.5hrs, twice a month, plus administration time.

LIFT PROJECT:
An innovative partnership with Local GP surgeries, providing mental health support within communities for patient needs including anxiety and depression, grief, loneliness, complex life issues and distressing life events. GL11 Counselling Services facilitates an ongoing patient journey to access community support and social networks to increase individual resilience.
This is an evolving project, so the role provides an opportunity to be fully involved in on-going team and process development.
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide clinical supervision on behalf of GL11 Counselling Service to groups comprising employed qualified counsellors and volunteer counsellors (both qualified and Level 4/5 counselling trainees). The qualified counsellors also carry an assessment role.
The role encompasses:
• Leading and managing group supervisions,
• Completing GL11 Counselling Service supervision records,
• Working closely with the clinical team leaders to ensure the ethical and safe running of the service,
• To provide clinical guidance and mentoring to the counselling team.
KEY TASKS:
• To effectively manage and utilize the group supervision sessions to carry out the normative, formative and supportive aspects of the role;
• To closely liaise with the Clinical Team Leaders on all aspects of the role;
• To complete supervision records in accord with the GL11 Counselling Service policies;
• To monitor individual counselling practise, ensure safe and ethical individual practise and that GL11 Counselling Service policies are being followed,
• To monitor client work and outcomes and report any concerns to the Clinical Team Leaders,
• To provide mentoring and learning opportunities to the counselling team
• To providing support for the stresses and strains experienced by individual counsellors;
• To complete student counsellor reports as requested by their training institutions;
• To work at all times in ways which respect, enable and empower individuals to make informed choices in their lives;
• Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the post.
GENERAL:
• To work pro-actively as part of the GL11 Community Hub team
• To work within GL11 Community Hub policies, values and ethos, including Health and Safety,
Equalities and Confidentiality
• To follow GL11 Counselling Service protocols and processes
• To be self-servicing for all aspects of administration
• Assist in other areas of the organisation as required
Holidays: There are seven weeks holiday per year plus bank holidays. Due to GL11 shutdowns this has to be taken as two weeks for Christmas shutdown, two weeks in July and one week at Easter.
Person Specification
Criteria Essential
Qualifications
• Level 5 Diploma/Degree in Therapeutic Counselling or Psychotherapy.
• Supervision qualification.
Previous Experience
• Minimum of 4 years post counselling qualification experience
• Minimum of 2 years supervised supervision experience
• Experience of supervising remotely via telephone and video link
Knowledge/Understanding
• Ability to assess wide range of client presentations, determine supervisee needs and balance these with Service needs
• Be a member of BACP, UKCP or equivalent
Skills
• Experience of leading and managing counselling groups/group supervision.
• Excellent communication skills (written & spoken)
Attitude
• Motivated to develop the LIFT Project to operate to its full potential
• Willingness to work flexibly when required
Ability
• Ability to motivate, enthuse and work co-operatively with team members
Circumstances
• Hold a current driving licence and have access to transport
• Commitment to maintain full Covid vaccination protection
Desirable
• Masters in Counselling
• Experience of working in a counselling agency setting
• Experience of supervising in a counselling agency setting
• Experience of working with volunteers and paid staff, ideally in the charitable sector
• BACP or equivalent accreditation or a willingness to pursue this
• Experience of counselling more challenging areas of mental distress
• Experience as a counselling trainer
