1:1 Teaching Assistant Job – Gloucester

Class People is working with a welcoming primary school on the outskirts of Gloucester that is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children thrive and, importantly, has a genuine interest in sport.

The successful candidate will work closely with the pupil, providing tailored support throughout the school day and helping them to engage positively with their learning and wider school experience.

About the Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil
Support the pupil with their learning and classroom engagement
Build a positive and trusting relationship with the child
Encourage participation in school activities
Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team
Use your interest in sport to help engage and motivate the pupil
Encourage confidence, independence and participation

The role will be based three days per week at the start of the school week – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sport Interest Essential

The school is particularly keen to find someone who has a genuine interest in sport.

Sport could be a fantastic way to build rapport with the pupil, encourage engagement and create positive opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom.

You don't need to be a sports coach – we're simply looking for someone who enjoys sport and can use that interest to help build a strong relationship with the child.

Interested in sport
Able to build strong and trusting relationships
Calm and consistent in their approach
Reliable and committed to the three-day working pattern
Comfortable working as part of a wider school team

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or 1:1 TA would be beneficial, although we are also keen to hear from individuals with relevant experience working with children.
