Teaching Assistant: SEND

Are you a child-focused, skilled and committed Teaching Assistant who can work in partnership with the class teacher and SENCo to help a Key Stage 2 child reach their full potential?

What does the pupil need?
“I would like a TA who is outdoorsy and loves to talk about anything to do with animals and nature! You can help me by understanding me, listening to me, making sure I’ve got structure and routine and celebrating my successes.”

What does the school need?
Ann Edwards Church of England Primary School is seeking to appoint an exceptional, committed individual who can provide 1:1 support for a pupil in Key Stage 2 with additional needs. We would like to appoint a team player, who will support the aims and core values of the school.

In addition to this, we would like a Teaching Assistant who:
• can build effective, trusting relationships with children
• is patient but assertive
• is a positive role model
• has high expectations
• is flexible, adaptable and able to act proactively in unpredictable situations
• is organised, self-motivated and able to use own initiative
• is reflective and fully committed to continued professional development
• can foster excellent working relationships with staff, parents and other professionals

The post is full-time 8.30 – 3.15, including 30 minutes lunchtime duty (term-time on an SEND/1:1 contract linked to the child) starting on 2nd September 2026. Please note that we would be happy to discuss the option of this position being for four days per week if that was preferable, job-sharing with one of our existing colleagues.

This position is fixed term for the duration of statement for SEN.
