Teaching Assistant / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

Educational, Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

• Successful work with children
• Demonstrable commitment to own continued professional development
• Demonstrable experience of interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
• Good ICT skills

Desirable:

• KS3 or KS4 classroom experience
• Experience of working with students with ASD or SEMH needs (may occasionally need to lift CYP from time to time)
• First Aid trained, or willingness to undertake training

• Knowledge of various neurodivergent conditions, such as ASC and ADHD, coupled with a deep sense of empathy to understand their perspective
• Patience and a calm, non-reactive demeanor essential for building trust and managing challenging situations
• Ability to tailor communication styles to the individual, using clear language and active listening
• Skilled in helping young people with emotional regulation, providing a safe space for processing feelings and learning coping strategies
• Flexibility and creativity for adapting to individual needs
