Intervention Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision - Gloucester
Are you passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full academic potential?
A supportive Alternative Provision in Gloucester is looking for a motivated, patient and enthusiastic Intervention Teaching Assistant to join their team full time, starting on a temporary basis.
The provision supports pupils who may have experienced difficulties accessing mainstream education, including those with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, behavioural difficulties, additional learning needs and gaps in their education. They are committed to helping pupils rebuild confidence, develop positive relationships and re-engage with learning through individualised support and targeted interventions.
As an Intervention Teaching Assistant, you will:
Deliver 1:1 and small-group learning interventions.
Support pupils with literacy, numeracy and other areas of the curriculum.
Help identify gaps in learning and support pupils in making academic progress.
Encourage pupils to rebuild confidence and develop positive attitudes towards education.
Adapt learning activities to suit individual abilities and needs.
Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement.
Build positive relationships and encourage pupils to overcome barriers to learning.
Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support individual pupil progress.
Whether you have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker or Support Worker, or are a graduate looking to build a career in education, Educational Psychology, Child Psychology or Mental Health, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your practical experience.
While previous Alternative Provision or intervention experience would be an advantage, it is not essential. Most importantly, the provision is looking for someone who is patient, resilient and adaptable, with a genuine passion for supporting young people who may have struggled within mainstream education.
As an Intervention Teaching Assistant, you will gain valuable experience in targeted learning support, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and re-engagement with education, making this an excellent opportunity for someone considering further study or a future career in psychology, education or youth support.
