About the SEN Teaching Assistant Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs including autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.

Your role may include:

1:1 SEN support
Small group intervention work
General classroom assistance within mainstream and specialist schools

You will play an important role in helping pupils engage with learning, build confidence, and feel supported throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored support for pupils with special educational needs
Assist teachers with classroom learning and activities
Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Help pupils access the curriculum in a way that suits their needs
Build strong and supportive relationships with pupils and staff
Contribute to an inclusive and engaging learning environment
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children or young people is desirable
SEN experience is beneficial but not essential
A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children within education
