We have a strong reputation in the local community. Slimbridge is steadily growing with 146 pupils on roll. We have 5 classes in total, as well as an on-site nursery.

We are looking to recruit a capable and committed Teaching Partner to work with whole classes as well as pupils with EHCPs across all age ranges throughout the school, from nursery through to year six. We are looking for a teaching partner who has particular skills in EYFS and is flexible and adaptable. The postholder will be expected to work in different age group classes and with different children if necessary.

This post will suit candidates who are passionate about SEND and inclusion and who are flexible, creative, caring and committed to providing the best learning opportunities. This candidate will be able to work with whole classes, lead small group intervention sessions for pupils as well as support individual pupils with additional needs.

We are looking for someone who:

• has classroom experience
• is focused on helping children to achieve targets and secure progress
• has confidence when working with students on a 1:1 or small group basis and assisting the class teachers where necessary e.g. leading groups and providing short-term cover
• can establish strong relationships with children whilst setting firm boundaries
• is passionate about working with children with special educational needs
• is sensitive to the social and emotional implications of each child
• is supportive and keen to work as a part of a dedicated team
• aspires to be exceptional in their practice
• has a level 2 teaching assistant qualification or equivalent
• has a good understanding of the National Curriculum
• Is able to work independently and within a team
• has experience of working with high needs SEND
• shows initiative and is able to adapt activities to suit the needs of the children

This role involves working with children who have social and emotional difficulties that impact on their ability to engage with, and access, learning. Full training and support from the SENCo and other agencies will be provided.

You will work in partnership with teachers within and across classes and in close collaboration with the SENCO as deployed by the Headteacher to raise the learning and attainment of all pupils, including those with any identified special education need including EHCPs whilst also promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.
