At Gastrells, we pride ourselves on being a warm, friendly, and nurturing community where creativity thrives and the children’s wellbeing and personal development are at the heart of our learning.
We are seeking to appoint part time and full time Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated and supportive team. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is caring, versatile, and passionate about helping children flourish both academically and emotionally. We are an inclusive school and welcome applicants with a strong commitment to supporting children with SEND.
The successful candidate will work with individual pupils, small groups, and whole classes, supporting children to reach their full potential (including pupils with identified SEND), and will follow individual plans and targets where appropriate. The role also includes 30 minutes of daily MDSA duties.
We are looking for someone who can:
• Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued.
• Support and inspire children through individualised learning and small-group work.
• Provide tailored support for pupils with SEND, following EHCPs and individual support plans.
• Use clear, supportive communication and scaffolded tasks; make reasonable adjustments to instructions, environment and resources (e.g. visual timetables, chunked instructions, movement breaks, quiet spaces) to reduce cognitive load and build independence.
• Assist in some individual or group lesson preparation and delivery, adapting activities to meet the needs of the learners and keeping accurate records of progress.
• Build nurturing relationships that promote confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
• Supervise and engage children during breaktimes, encouraging play and social interaction.
• Work closely with teachers, parents, and the wider school community to provide consistent, high-quality support.
Working as part of a team, the ideal candidate will be adaptable, proactive, and committed to making a real difference in children’s lives.
