Katharine Lady Berkeley's School is seeking a SEMH Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate would support students with complex emotional and behavioural needs by building trusting relationships, providing emotional support, delivering targeted interventions, and creating a calm, structured environment to help them access the curriculum. They would work with our new hub providing support for children who are struggling within the school day, helping them regulate emotions, reflect on behaviour, and successfully reintegrate back into the classroom. The role involves working across the regulation room, reflection room, and reintegration room to support with de-escalation and provide targeted support for children when needed.

The position is term time only, 27.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8.20am to 2.50pm with a 60-minute unpaid break . There may, however, be some flexibility on hours for ideal candidates. The full-time equivalent salary is NJC Points 11-14 (£28,142- £29,540) dependent on experience, qualifications and hours worked. The actual pro rata salary is £17,489- £18,358.

Candidates should have a good basic level of education in order to support the young people in their studies, and have experience of working with young people in some capacity. Although relevant childcare or educational qualifications and experience in intervention teaching would be advantageous, applications from candidates who are able to show that they possess transferable skills or experience are also encouraged.

The ideal candidates should have excellent communication and team working skills, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in the wellbeing and development of young people. They will be confident to supervise children within the school's policies and guidelines and be able to manage their time effectively with minimal supervision.
