Transport Operations Manager

Our client is looking for an experienced, driven, and dynamic Transport Operations Manager to lead their specialist Road Sweeper and Tanker operations from their brand-new, purpose-built facility, complete with zero-to-landfill recycling plant and modern vehicle maintenance workshop.

The Role
You will hold full operational responsibility for a mixed specialist fleet, ensuring services are delivered safely, compliantly, and efficiently. This is a pivotal position focused on operational excellence, team development, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Road Sweeper, Tanker, and Waste operations end-to-end
- Maintain full compliance with Operator Licence, DVSA, FORS, and transport legislation
- Lead, motivate, and develop drivers and operational teams
- Plan and oversee specialist customer projects to the highest safety and quality standards
- Ensure Waste Carrier Licence compliance
- Improve vehicle utilisation, maintenance scheduling, and defect reporting processes
- Monitor KPIs relating to safety, compliance, efficiency, and cost control
- Support senior leadership with growth strategies and service development
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across transport and operations
Essential Requirements
- Transport Manager CPC (refreshed within last 2 years)
- Proven experience managing transport operations and commercial fleets
- Strong knowledge of compliance and operator licence requirements
- Confident leadership and people management skills
- Highly organised, proactive, and commercially aware
- Full UK driving licence
Highly Desirable
- WAMITAB Level 4 Medium Risk Operator Competence
- IOSH Managing Safely and/or NEBOSH qualification
- Experience with specialist vehicles (sweepers, tankers, plant), drainage, waste, or construction sectors

Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 Annual + £-Excellent
