We are both excited and delighted to announce that Cheltenham Animal Shelter is looking to open a new Charity Shop in Winchcombe Street, Cheltenham right in the heart of Cheltenham town centre. This initiative represents a fantastic opportunity for us to raise vital funds to support the animals in our care. If successful, the  shop will not only generate much-needed revenue but also increase our visibility in the community, helping to spread awareness about our mission and the important work we do.

We believe that this new venture will enable us to continue providing the highest level of care for our animals and expand our reach in finding them loving forever homes.

To help make the shop a success we are looking for enthusiastic Volunteers to help run the shop. The position is open to all and may appeal to students through the  holiday period. Could you help us to help our animals ?If so then please get in touch with Peter or Erica for more details

Volunteer roles : Charity Shop

Location: 25 Winchcombe Street, Cheltenham,  GL52 2LZ

Hours: The shop will be open Tuesday to Saturday 9am -5.30pm and Sunday 10.30am – 4.30pm.
We would like volunteers to ideally help either mornings, afternoons or for a full day on a regular weekly basis.
(Weekday morning shift 9am-1.30pm and weekday afternoon shift 1.30-5.30pm, Sunday 10am-1pm and 1pm – 4.30pm - with ½ hour lunch hour if full day worked ).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To serve customers and record purchases on the cash register
  • To work with staff and other volunteers to sort, steam, hang, ticket and size donated items for sale in the shop.
  • To help keep the shop clean.
  • To assist with shop displays.
  • Provide information leaflets and signpost any enquiries for CAS services.
  • Comply with CAS relevant Policies and Procedures.
  • Wear personal identity badge whilst volunteering.
  • Represent the professional standards of the charity.

Person Specification:

  • An interest in the shop, and an enthusiasm for raising money through its work.
  • A flexible approach
  • Able to provide a friendly, high-quality service to customers.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Basic numeracy.
  • A sense of humour.
  • An understanding of the need for confidentiality.
  • Good timekeeping.
  • Reliability and trustworthiness.

Training Requirements:

  • Induction including Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Moving & Handling.
  • Supervised shift training with the Shop Manager/Assistant Manager
