About us
Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum was founded in 1985 by a small group of dedicated enthusiasts who wanted to work in close partnership with Forestry England to protect, enhance and develop this extraordinary landscape. Through our membership scheme and fundraising activity, we have helped Westonbirt Arboretum thrive for over 40 years.
Today, we are a flourishing charity with an annual income of over £2 million, a team of 17 staff, and a community of more than 39,000 members. We are immensely proud of the impact we make in supporting the Arboretum and inspiring people through trees.
A pivotal moment
This is one of the most significant and exciting periods in the history of both Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum and the Arboretum itself. Working in partnership with Forestry England, we are delivering an ambitious Joint Vision to transform Westonbirt Arboretum and secure its future as “a world leader in trees.”
The role
As a Trustee, you will join a committed, passionate and highperforming board, united by pride in
Westonbirt Arboretum and belief in its longterm potential.
You will be expected to:
- Share our commitment to the enhancement, conservation and care of Westonbirt Arboretum
- Work collaboratively with Forestry England, the Chair, fellow trustees and the CEO to shape a sustainable long‑term future for the charity and the Arboretum
- Contribute strategic insight, horizon‑scan for emerging opportunities and help broker new relationships
- Act as an ambassador for Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum, supporting our profile, influence and impact.
