*SEMH /SEND Specialist Tutor (Freelance) - £30 - £35 per hour*
Gloucestershire
Searchlight Learning is a specialist one-to-one education service supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and neurodivergent conditions, including autism and ADHD.
Founded in 2020, we work with young people who require an individualised approach to education, helping them to re-engage with learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes. Our tutors provide bespoke educational support in homes, schools, community settings and online, working collaboratively with families and professionals to ensure each young person receives the support they need to thrive.
We are currently seeking skilled and compassionate SEMH / SEND Tutors to join our freelance team across Gloucestershire.
About the Role
As an SEMH Tutor, you will deliver personalised one-to-one educational support to children and young people whose needs may make it difficult for them to access or engage with mainstream education.
Many of the young people we support have experienced significant challenges within education and benefit from a flexible, relationship-based approach that builds on their strengths, interests and aspirations.
You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping young people reconnect with learning, experience success and work towards their individual goals.
We Are Looking For Individuals Who:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Have experience supporting children and young people with SEND and SEMH needs
- Have a good understanding of autism, ADHD and other neurodivergent conditions
- Can adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning profiles
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and families
- Are patient, empathetic and committed to seeing the potential in every young person
- Can work independently whilst contributing to a wider team around the young person
- Have excellent communication and record-keeping skills
Experience of supporting young people with emotionally based school avoidance, anxiety, trauma-informed practice, reintegration into education or alternative educational pathways would be particularly beneficial.
Why Join Searchlight Learning?
At Searchlight Learning, we believe that meaningful progress happens when young people feel understood, valued and supported. We take time to get to know each young person as an individual and work collaboratively to create learning opportunities that are engaging, achievable and relevant.
As part of our team, you will benefit from:
- Flexible freelance working arrangements
- Competitive rates of pay
- Mileage allowance available for travel to and from sessions with students.
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- A supportive and collaborative team culture
- Regular communication and professional support
