We are excited to invite applications for Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) to join our teams at Callington Road Hospital where we're proud to be at the heart of acute mental health services, providing compassionate & skilled care to adults in an inpatient setting.

HCSWs are vital to our services & play a key role in supporting people with mental health problems to live fulfilling lives as part of a multi-disciplinary team.To succeed in this role, you will need to be highly motivated and passionate about mental healthcare, & genuinely curious about the experiences of people who struggle with the complex challenges of mental illness.

Main duties of the job

Having experience of working as a HCSW or in a care setting is useful but not essential as full training will be given.

Duties include:

  • Working as part of a care team to deliver evidence-based interventions to service users with mental health problems.
  • Working alongside registered clinicians, a set of therapeutic care skills, making a significant contribution to service users' psychological, emotional and social wellbeing.
  • Ensuring service users and their relatives receive care that prioritises safety, effectiveness, partnership and hope.
  • carrying out observations, engage with service users, encourage tasks of daily living, promote recovery whilst demonstrating excellent communication.
  • Learning and understanding how to care for service users that are in mental health crisis by promoting choice and independence in the least restrictive way possible.

Because our patients need us around the clock, you'll need to be able to work a variety of shifts across a 24-hour period, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
