Are you a caring, motivated Health Care Assistant looking for a varied and rewarding role?

We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 3 HCA to join our friendly and supportive team within the Princess Anne Day Surgery and Endoscopy Unit at Stroud Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience across day surgery, theatres, endoscopy, and decontamination, offering a diverse role and the chance to develop a broad skill set within a single department

You will work alongside nurses, ODPs, endoscopists, surgeons, anaesthetists and the wider multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality patient care in a busy dynamic environment. You will support patient preparation and recovery, undertake clinical skills following training and competency assessment, and help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patients and visitors.

The role would suit an experienced HCA who enjoys variety, learning new skills and working in a close-knit team. Experience within a surgical, theatre or endoscopy environment would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training and support will be provided.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality patient care across day surgery, endoscopy, theatre, recovery and decontamination services. Working alongside registered nurses, ODPs and other healthcare professionals, you will assist patients throughout their peri-operative journey, ensuring a safe, welcoming and professional environment.

Main duties will include:

• Supporting patients before during and after surgical and endoscopy procedures.
• Undertaking clinical observations and reporting concerns appropriately.
• Assisting with patient movement, positioning and transfers.
• Preparing clinical areas, equipment and patient care environments.
• Supporting the safe handling, cleaning and decontamination of endoscopy equipment in line with local policies and procedures.
• Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
• Contributing to infection prevention, health and safety and quality improvement activities.
• Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient care.
