Job Title: After School Club Assistant
Reports to: After School Club Manager
Job Summary:
Holy Apostles Pavilion Group After School Club is expanding its current offering and is after an After School Club Assistant to support the After School Club Manager in providing a safe, engaging, and active after school club for children in Years 2 to 6. This role involves assisting with the planning and delivery of activities, supervising children, and supporting the administrative tasks required for the smooth running of the club.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Activity Support:
• Assist the After School Club Manager in planning and preparing activities.
• Help set up and clear away activity areas and equipment.
• Support the delivery of activities, ensuring children are engaged and participating.
• Lead small group activities under the direction of the manager.
• Encourage children to participate and develop their skills.
• Assist with the safe use and storage of equipment.
2. Child Supervision & Welfare:
• Supervise children during activities and free play, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere.
• Help maintain accurate attendance records and ensure children are signed in and out safely.
• Assist with basic first aid as required and report any accidents or incidents to the manager.
• Support the manager in addressing any behavioural issues in a calm and consistent manner.
• Build positive relationships with children.
3. Administrative Support:
• Assist with basic administrative tasks as directed by the manager.
• Help maintain a clean and organised club environment.
4. Teamwork & Communication:
• Work collaboratively with the After School Club Manager and other staff.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and school staff.
• Attend relevant training and meetings as required.
• Provide feedback and suggestions to the manager for improving the after school club.

Person Specification:
• Experience working with children aged 6-11 years (Years 2-6) is desirable.
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• A willingness to learn and develop skills.
• Basic understanding of safeguarding principles (or willingness to learn).
• Reliable and punctual.

Desirable Qualities:
• Experience in a similar role.
• Early Years Experience
• First aid certification
• Safeguarding training
• A passion for promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
• A relevant qualification in childcare or sports coaching.

Start Date: Summer Term 2025 – 28th April
Salary £12.25 per hour
Location: Cheltenham
Working Hours: 15 hours per week during school term times (excludes school holidays)
