Collections Assistant (Art and Exhibitions)

Hours: 15 hours per week (2 days between Tuesday – Thursday to be agreed, Flexible working options)
Assignment Fee: £5,002 (total for the contract)

About the Role
The Wilson Art collection comprises 9,000 art objects, displayed in galleries, onsite and offsite storage. This includes: a dedicated Arts and Crafts collection, Fine Art paintings, Decorative Art including ceramics and metalwork, and Costume and Textiles.
In Autumn 2026, we will be re-opening four newly renovated collection galleries which will re-presenting highlights from our art collection in ambitious cross collection displays for our audiences and provide a dedicated learning space and programme for schools and community groups. We will also be re-launching our Friends Gallery, a dedicated space for our Fine Art collection.
The Collections and Exhibitions Assistant will work with Senior Curator (Art and Exhibitions) and Curator (Art and Exhibitions) to contribute to the day-to-day operations around the art collections, coordinating the research, conservation movement and documentation of art collections in preparation for display.
We are seeking someone who is passionate about supporting access and public engagement to art collections to support The Wilson’s aims and strategic priorities, with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with colleagues and external contacts in a fast paced environment. We particularly encourage applications from candidates who have experience of exhibitions and handling art objects.
