Marketing and Communications Officer

Cirencester

Hours of work: 24 hours per week (Mon-Fri flexible)
Salary: £28,424 (FTE) £18,433 actual
Place of work: Cirencester Office
Reporting to: Marketing, Communications and Volunteer Manager

We are seeking a creative, dynamic and organised Marketing and Communications Officer to support marketing and communications across The Churn Community Hub. This is a varied and practical role for someone who enjoys creating engaging content, communicating with different audiences and finding effective ways to promote and share the work, activities and impact of our organisation.

The role will suit someone with good written and verbal communication skills who is confident using social media and digital platforms and can create engaging, authentic content. You will be organised and efficient, able to work at pace and manage a varied workload, with the creativity and initiative to spot opportunities for content and bring ideas to life. Working closely with colleagues across The Churn, you will help gather and share stories, information and content that demonstrate the breadth and impact of our work.

You do not need to come from a traditional communications background; we are interested in someone with the right skills, ability and enthusiasm to learn and develop. Experience of using tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, updating websites, photography or creating video content would be an advantage.

The Churn Community Hub is an independent charity working in Cirencester and the surrounding villages for over 25 years. In 2024/25, we supported over 1,700 people to reduce isolation and loneliness, improve wellbeing, learn new skills and feel part of their community. Our vision is that all people should be included, involved and invested in their community, feel supported and valued and given the opportunity to achieve their potential.

THE ROLE

As Marketing and Communications Officer, you will support the day-to-day delivery of marketing and communications across The Churn, working closely with the Marketing, Communications and Volunteer Manager and colleagues across the organisation. You will help ensure our communications are current, engaging and consistent and that our services, activities, events and impact are promoted effectively.

A key part of the role will be creating regular, authentic content for our social media platforms, website and other communications. You will gather stories, news, photographs and information from across our services, creating posts, graphics, short videos and other content that brings our work to life. You will update and maintain website content, support newsletters and publications and help produce promotional materials, reports, presentations, leaflets and event materials in line with The Churn’s brand.

You will support communications for campaigns, community events and projects, including those delivered collaboratively with other organisations, helping to ensure information is accurate, timely and shared effectively. You will also support photography and filming, maintain our image library and permissions and help identify opportunities to promote The Churn through local media and other channels.

This is a busy and varied role requiring someone who can work efficiently, manage different priorities and respond quickly when needed. You will use your creativity and initiative to spot opportunities for content, develop ideas and help ensure The Churn has a strong, active and engaging presence.

You should thrive in a collaborative working environment and be able to engage with colleagues, other organisations and others to support effective marketing and communications across The Churn and our community.
