Assistant Science Technician
Gloucester
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: September 2025
An opportunity has arisen to join the friendly team at Ribston Hall High School, as Assistant Science Technician. This position is part time (16 hours per week), term time only.
The hours will be worked across 5 days per week from 12.00pm to 4.00pm, Monday – Friday. Applications on a job-share basis will be considered.
The Assistant Science Technician will support the delivery of practical science lessons to students, by preparing materials and equipment for lessons and clearing away equipment after the lesson has been completed.
With responsibility for ensuring that all equipment is kept in good order, you will support with the regular servicing, inspection and testing of equipment and apparatus, also assisting with the maintenance and repair of such resources. With good administrative skills, you will undertake reprographics tasks for the Science Department and maintain stock levels of consumables in the science laboratories,on a daily basis.
Working under the supervision of the Senior Science Technician, the postholder will demonstrate excellent communication skills, combined the ability to work flexibly and reliably under pressure. With good team working ability, you will also be able to work independently to complete designated tasks accurately and efficiently.
A good standard of general education and an understanding of science is required. Previous school experience whilst desirable, is not essential, as full training will be provided.
