This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, 22.5 hours per week.

Have you had lived experience of Perinatal Mental Illness? Would you like to support other women who are currently experiencing perinatal mental health issues? If so, we would like to hear from you, as we have an exciting opportunity, for a perinatal peer support worker, to support women and their families who are under the care of the perinatal mental health team.The perinatal service provides mental health support and services for women and their families during pregnancy and up to 2 years after birth.

The Perinatal service prioritises women with serious and complex mental health needs and/or high levels of distress linked to their maternity experience including those who have experienced serious mental healthepisodes in the past and are currently well.

We also provide specialist consultation, training, and advice to a range of mental health, maternity, and primary health service.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a compassionate, positive thinking individual with lived experience of mental health problems during the perinatal period. The successful candidate will have completed or be willing to complete a Peer Support Worker training.

As part of the Perinatal team, the post holder will provide practical, individual and group support to women and birthing people within the service, using their own lived experience to support mothers to achieve their individual recovery goals.

You will be a member of a multidisciplinary team working alongside mental health professionals. Peer Support Workers are fully supported in their role, through regular 1 to 1 supervision within the team line management structure. You will also have access to training opportunities to support your professional development.
