Trainee Material Controller

Day in the Life

To ensure the efficient, timely, and accurate control and flow of raw materials, specifically Steel and Aluminium, into the manufacturing process to support continuous automotive production.

The Material Controller will manage inventory, liaise with suppliers, monitor material usage, and ensure raw material availability in line with production schedules and quality requirements.

Full training provided to the right candidate.

Role responsibilities

• Setting of key planning parameters to ensure timely delivery of raw materials
• Monitor and manage raw material inventory levels in line with production demands
• Maintain accurate stock records
• Monitor material usage rates and adjust planning accordingly
• Generate Material Forecasts
• Management of the Customers material process
• Engage with supplier to conduct improvement activities
• Support with Introduction of new products
• Work with Quality & Engineering to address material non-conformities
• Vendor Ratings - generate and monitor key material suppliers
• Reporting on departmental KPIs such as inventory turnover, shortages, stock holding, valuation, accuracy and supplier performance

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• IT literate in use of Microsoft Packages

Hours of work:

• Monday to Thursday 08.00 to 16.30
• Friday 08.00 to 15.30

Locations:

• Based on site at G-TEM Gloucester Plant 1
