Job summary
Gloucester Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust operating theatres are offering this exciting opportunity to join our innovative and supportive theatre team as an Apprentice Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
As an apprentice you will learn while you earn undertaking a three year BSc ODP programme via the University of Derby. Learners will work within the perioperative environment gaining the required skills and knowledge to meet the requirements of standards defined by the Health and Care Professions Council and the Institute for Apprenticeship and Technical Education.
Students are required to meet the academic requirement of the course, achieve clinical competencies and pass an end point assessment at the end of year 3 to meet the requirement for apprenticeship and professional registration.
Students will be required to attend a scheduled annual 1 week residency with the academic provider. Short-listed applicant will be interview by both Trust and university.
Main duties of the job
The apprentice will:
Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a registered practitioner
Demonstrate a commitment to undertake the clinical and academic training required to complete the programme
Carry out specific delegated clinical tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction and supervision of a registered practitioner
Work with clinical educators to take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the perioperative setting and by attending the ODP degree apprenticeship
