Job summary
Fixed term contracts for up to 12 months - we are recruiting for university programme intakes September 2026 - September 2027, and January 2027-January 2028.
Successful Trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) candidates will be offered a full-time educational programme delivered specifically for the role in partnership with the University of Exeter. This post will be funded at NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) Band 4 level, gaining credits towards either a degree or diploma level qualification (depending on level of previous academic study). Successful completion of the university course, probation period and training year leads to offer of permanent contract as a qualified EMHP starting at NHS AfC Band 5 level.
If successful, you will be employed on a full-time basis and work across Gloucestershire schools (Forest of Dean, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Stroud and Cotswolds) where the Young Minds Matter Mental Health Support Teams deliver mental health support across a range of educational settings in the region.
As part of this role there will be a requirement to travel to the University for the training, as well as to schools across the county.
Main duties of the job
During training, the post-holder will work under supervision to gain experience across healthcare and educational settings to enable them to gain the level of competence required to deliver high-quality, evidence-based early interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems.
