*Early Years Apprentices*
Tewkesbury, Bishops Cleeve, Twigworth
We have exciting opportunities to join one of our established settings. We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and self-directed apprentices to join our team to provide excellent early years provision in the Gloucestershire area. Our vision is wherever possible, to meet our customers childcare needs, in line with budgetary targets. To create a professional team of practitioners that strive to put the children’s needs first and enhance a training environment in the setting through a positive role model approach.
We are looking for apprentices for both the Early Years Practitioner (Level 2) and Early Years Educator Qualifications (Level 3), both full time (40 hours/week) and part-time (30 hours/week) all year around. These contracts will be permanent.
Successful apprentices will be heavily supported working alongside the in-house training team to complete their qualification whilst working as Key worker to children aged between 1 and 4 years to deliver outstanding early years education. The apprentice should be passionate about making a difference and developing your understanding of child development to promote each child’s happiness and supporting them to follow their interests, explore, learn and reach their full potential. Apprentices must be self-motivated and engage highly with the training team in order to meet deadlines in order to complete their evidence portfolio.
Apprentices must have good communication skills and be willing to learn as well as engaging well when working as part of a team. Apprentices will be supported to develop the skills needed to be able to tell stories and sing songs, play games, enjoy messy play, and be happy to be outdoors in all weathers. Apprentices must be willing to leave their comfort zones at times if required.
Apprentices will be paid our Apprenticeship rate according to their age, experience and previous qualifications.

As part of the recruitment process you will be asked to attend an interview consisting of formal questions and a skills scan and initial assessment. This will determine the appropriate qualification. Apprentices will be asked to complete a short trial session afterwards.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Nursery Assistant Apprenticeship
Responsible to: Senior Nursery Nurse, Senior Practitioner, Training officers, Area Coordinator & Managing Director
Scope and General purpose of job: to assist in providing the highest standards of childcare for Children within the Nursery.
Principle Accountabilities
- To report for work in good time, clean and tidy and wearing the correct uniform.
- To demonstrate a pride in the workplace and show a high level of commitment.
- To provide a safe, caring, stimulating and educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
- To work as part of a team under the supervision of senior staff.
- To assist the team in the care, and education of all the children in the nursery.
- To assist in promoting the physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs of all the children in your care.
- To be a key person/buddy and assist in the assessments and monitoring of the children
- To be involved and assist in the Nursery planning in conjunction with the Early Years Foundation Stage and to plan activities which ensure each child is working towards their individual developmental needs.
- To assist in implementing planned activities from the Early Years Foundation Stage planning.
- To ensure records are properly maintained including daily attendance registers, accident and incident forms and risk assessments
- To develop and maintain good relationships with the parents and consult with them on the day to day needs of their children.
- To support and uphold all the Nursery and staff policies and procedures.
- To always adhere to all Nursery rules.
- To be flexible in assisting different parts of the company, and within the nursery’s rota shifts (7.30-6) in response to business needs.
- To comply with the statutory and legal requirements for health and safety within the nursery policy.
- To attend staff meetings/ parents social events/ training when required.
- To work in line with any training always received and seek support when needed from the training team.
- To report all maintenance requirements and hazards found in the workplace, to the management team.
- To carry out any housekeeping duties required.
- To attend monthly supports / appraisals and to achieve the action points arising in your PDP (Personal Development Plan)
Contribute to the safeguarding of children from abuse through the correct completion of forms and knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
To complete and return all training paperwork required in the time allocated.
You may be required to undertake other duties and responsibilities which may reasonably be allocated from time to time. These other duties will not however change the general character of the post or level of responsibility entailed.
Such variations are a common occurrence and cannot justify reconsideration of the grading of the existing position.
