Support Worker - CSW
Stonehouse
The autistic people we support are all generally young, fit and healthy but require varying levels of support with some or all of the following: personal care routines, engagement in daily living tasks, companionship, or support to access planned community-based activities. Many enjoy, amongst other things, cooking, gardening, hiking, swimming, yoga, cycling, and going out to pubs, music events, football matches, cinema and restaurants. Each also enjoys spending time with their families who live close by. In your application, please include some information on any hobbies, interests or any other, 'non-care' skills you may have which may be relevant.
Learning Together advocates a gentle teaching approach to care and support. Rather than focusing on the behaviour of those we support, we reflect on our own behaviour and our role in the relationship. The successful candidates will work closely with Service Managers and the Operations Manager.
Shift patterns are varied, but as we support individuals 24/7, flexibility is required across the week, including evenings and weekends (enhanced rate paid for weekends). We will also consider applications from people who require a set pattern of work to fit in with other life commitments.
Join us and become part of a unique, creative and friendly team, supporting/enabling adults with autism and learning difficulties to live a great life, stay connected with family and community. This is a great opportunity to take on a rewarding role within a small and innovative organisation based just off Junction 13 of the M5, near Stonehouse GL10.
We offer:
- £11.28 per hour weekdays & £13.33 weekends (£10.76 per hour weekdays during probation but you will also receive a £240 end-of-probation payment) Note: Pay rate is expected to rise in line with LA uplift in April.
- £13.33 hour overtime
- Sick Pay
- 29 days annual leave per year pro rata. (including your birthday off as paid leave - a 'thank you' from us). After 3 years with us this increases to 32 days and after 5 years, to 34 days annual leave per year.
- Paid DBS check
- Paid induction training
- Minimum of £70 per night for sleep-ins (10.30pm-7.30am) On average, full-time employees undertake between 6 and 8 sleep-in per month. This equates to an extra £5040 -to- £6720 on top of basic salary.
- £200 Christmas bonus
- £300 refer-a-friend scheme
- Learning Together pays for your meals on duty
- 4% employer pension contribution
- Support available at all times during the day via Microsoft teams video calls and on-call phone.
- Other trainings (e.g. Diplomas in Health & Social Care Levels 3, 4 & 5) and career prospects available within a supportive, innovative and progressive organisation.
Requirements for this role:
- An open-minded attitude and ability to listen to advice and learn from experience.
- Must be fit and able to carry out the duties of the position.
- Flexibility: we support people 24/7 so the post requires shift work plus some sleep-in nights and weekend working
- A valid drivers’ licence - the people we support all own their own cars so it would be useful to be able to drive
Advantageous:
- Previous care work experience supporting people
- An NVQ 2 or 3 OR equivalent in Health & Social Care
- At Learning Together, we seek to match individual employees’ hobbies and interests with specific individuals we support. To help us find the right match for you, please include some information in your letter of application related to your hobbies, interests or any other, 'non-care'/practical skills you may have which may be relevant.
