Castle Hill Primary School is looking to appoint an organised and efficient Site Assistant.
We are looking to appoint a colleague who will support our School Business Manager with all aspects of site maintenance, gardening, safety, and security of the school.
We require a self-motivated and proactive individual who is committed to keeping our school clean, tidy and safe for the whole community.
The Site Assistant will need to be organised, able to prioritise their time and workload whilst being flexible to deal with interruptions and urgent requests – a ‘can do, solution driven’ attitude is essential.
This is a very varied, interesting role and we welcome applications from candidates who:
• Are flexible, enthusiastic and adaptable
• Have a good team ethic
• Have knowledge of basic site maintenance and light gardening
• Have experience of general building maintenance and repairs
• Are physically able to carry out manual handling tasks – lifting, moving and climbing.
Duties will include:
• Opening up school in the mornings
• Legal compliance checks – eg fire alarm testing, emergency lighting checks, legionella checks
• Assist with site Maintenance and repairs – this will be at a handyman level with all major works being undertaken by specialist contractors
• Light gardening and leaf tidying where required
• Daily walk around premises checks
The post is for 18 hrs per week, 39 weeks a year with an additional 5 weeks (90 hours) attendance through the school holidays.
The candidate will be expected to attend school 06.30 to 08.30am daily during term time to unlock the school and undertake daily/weekly compliance checks (10 hours per week) and the remaining 8 hours will be dedicated to handyperson jobs and hours attended to undertake this are negotiable for the right candidate.
Times worked in school holidays will be discussed, aligned to school needs and agreed by SBM and HT but will spread across all weeks of the school holidays to support the need for legal compliance checks.
