Community Centre Manager
Chepstow
Hours: 18.75 hours per week (worked flexibly to include evening and weekends where necessary) Additional hours may become available subject to funding.
Contract Term: 12 months fixed term (expectation to extend subject to funding)

About Us
Sedbury Space is a community group and charitable organisation that manages a premises in the middle of the village of Sedbury for the benefit of the whole community. The team organise and facilitate activities and events to enhance the sense of community, encourage volunteering and promote individual well-being.
The role:
A varied role, in partnership with the Trustees, management committee and volunteers, you will be working at the heart of the local community with responsibility of the day-to-day management and running of Sedbury Space Community Centre:
Main tasks:
- Manage the resources and consumables for the centre
- Manage bookings
- Monitor state of premises and liaise with Two Rivers Housing Association regarding checks, maintenance and repairs
- Organise rotas for the activities
- Raise awareness of what is on offer, through keeping the display boards and website up to date
- Build and develop partnership links in the local community
- Promote the centre by networking with others across the District and the County and the immediate area
- Comply with relevant health and safety and food hygiene requirements
- Assist Trustees in recruiting and arranging training for volunteers
- Carry out induction and development of volunteers
- Manage confidential volunteers record and all financial records
- Seek out funders and assist trustees in writing funding bids
- Monitor and appraise the work done and report to Trustees
About you:
We’re looking for a strong, empathetic communicator, with a flexible approach and a can-do attitude.
- With excellent organisational skills, the ideal candidate will have:
- Strong IT skills - competent user of MS Office applications
- Experience of managing a budget
- Experience of managing/co-ordinating volunteers
- Experience of record keeping and managing confidentiality
- Experience of working effectively within safeguarding guidelines and following procedures
- Confidence in using social media
- Knowledge and understanding of GDPR regulations
- An understanding of the difficulties faced by those suffering from isolation, deprivation, engagement barriers, disability and mental health challenges
- An understanding of models of Community Development and how to implement them
Qualifications
- Educational attainment in a relevant field is desirable but not essential. Necessary support and training will be provided to the successful candidate.
- A full driver’s licence with access to vehicle is required.
- A valid First Aid and Food Hygiene certificate are desirable, but training can be provided if these are not already held.
