Abbeymead Under 5s Playgroup - 1:1 Support Assistant - 13492971
Hucclecote, Gloucester
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Support Assistant to join our supportive and friendly team at Abbeymead Under 5s Playgroup. Hours: 10 hours per week (Term Time Only). Contract: Fixed term with the potential for hours to increase. Start Date: As soon as possible.
This role involves providing 1:1 support for a child who communicates using non-verbal methods and has high sensory needs. The successful candidate will have experience working with children who benefit from alternative communication strategies and sensory-based approaches to learning and engagement.
Key Responsibilities include; to provide consistent, individualised support to meet the child’s specific developmental and emotional needs, working collaboratively with the wider team to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment. Adapt activities and routines to support communication, regulation, and participation. Maintain accurate observations and contribute to the child’s learning journey and EHCP.
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant childcare qualification at Level 2 or 3, have experience supporting children with additional needs, particularly those who are non-speaking and require sensory support. Demonstrate a calm, empathetic, and flexible approach, be committed to inclusive early years education and possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
