Residential Support Worker (Term Time Only)

Ruskin Mill College is the founding college of Ruskin Mill Trust. Located in the Cotswolds, the 140-acre site includes a wooded valley, a trout farm, market gardens, sustainably managed woodlands and a biodynamic farm. Nestled in the landscape are craft workshops including pottery, forge, textiles and woodwork.

We offer exciting outdoor learning environments, utilising practical land and craft activities to support the development of work and life skills in young people with autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences. Our research-led method, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education, is inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. Working with hand, head, heart and place, Ruskin Mill Trust helps individuals to re-imagine their potential.

Residential Support Worker (Term Time Only)
Actual salary for 40 hours, 37 weeks £22,029 - £22,904* (FTE £26,994 - £28,065* per annum 40 hours, 52 weeks)
Sleep-ins paid at an extra £78.48 per night
Applicants who apply for this role at the current time will receive a Welcome Bonus of £1500 (subject to Tax/NI) after completion of their 6-month probation period.

This post is based in and around Nailsworth, Stroud, and Stonehouse.

Roles are based at our Residential homes located throughout Nailsworth, Stonehouse and Stroud area currently.
Some of the locations are remote and not served by public transport so applicants will require own transport.
Drivers are preferred in order to support our students to fully access the community.
In order to be successful in this role you will:
- Have a strong desire to support young people, have excellent observational skills, and the ability to problem solve and think creatively to enable our young people to reimagine their potential
- Be a patient, caring, compassionate with a young person-centred nature
- Demonstrate the ability to manage emotionally challenging situations, be a team player with experience of support work in both educational and residential settings
- Emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in stressful situations
- Be able to work flexible hours as this role works predominantly evenings, weekend and sleepovers on a rota basis
