Nursery Practitioner (Unqualified or possible apprenticeship)

Brockworth, Gloucester

Age group: Dependent upon candidate

Ridgemount Cottage Nursery has been at the heart of the local community since 1994.

We are a family-run outdoor-focused nursery, set in the idyllic surroundings of our thatched cottage with an acre of grounds. Situated at the heart of Brockworth, we’ve always fostered close links with the village community and care passionately about our environment, both near and far.

Recently Ofsteded, we are happy to share that we were awarded 'Good' status. We are not due another inspection until 2029.

We are looking for a passionate Nursery Practitioner to join our enthusiastic team of colleagues who love what they do. The right candidate should believe in the four pillars of our ethos:

Exploration

The great outdoors is good for the mind, body and soul. So we use our extensive outdoor area for children to grow vegetables, play in our woodland, and feed our chickens while also promoting a calm, healthy and happy outlook. You will have the opportunity to support our mini explorers by becoming a Forest School Ambassador too.

Discovery

Our refreshed continuous provision encourages children’s curiosity, so they are quickly and easily engaged in an activity. We let our newly updated environments do all the hard work, while your positive encouragement inspires children to use their imagination to play and learn. Managers are always on hand to ensure that you are able to access any part of our acre site easily.

Independence

We want to empower children to feel safe and confident when following their freewill and make the right choices. Your job isn’t to tidy up toys or hang up coats; it’s to guide children towards independence, creating sociable, happy people who feel preparedfor the next stage of their journey.

Community

Our children show kindness to each other and our team - something embedded through our positive behaviour management and supported through the ‘my Happy mind’ program. We encourage cross-group activities, such as sibling yoga with our Wellness Ambassadors, to foster healthy relationships. We are proud to hear parents describe being part of “The Ridgemount Family”, which we nurture with regular parents and grandparents coffee mornings.
