Digital Community Builder
Gloucester
Gloucester Community Building Collective is an independent C.I.C established in December 2019, whose mission is to bring about people-led action to realise their dreams and passions for themselves, their neighbourhoods and communities. Our team of Community Builders help residents to identify the issues that are most important to them, find their own solutions and support individuals and groups to catalyse action, making life better for everyone through long term positive change.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as the new Digital Community Builder as part of the Gloucestershire Digital Hubs project.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in establishing community-based digital hubs across the city, leveraging existing connections, spaces, and organisations within local communities. Your primary focus will be to understand how digital tools can support and enhance people's existing skills and passions, while encouraging them to share their expertise through volunteer roles.
To do this job you must have the following:
- Curiosity and interest in people, communities, and their experiences.
- Good general education.
- Strong IT and digital skills, confidence in using a wide range of IT software.
- Understanding of barriers to digital inclusion and their impact on participation.
- Ability to use and promote the effective and safe use of social media.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, effective communication, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to motivate and inspire people.
- Self-direction and the ability to seek support and leverage the skills and experience of the wider team.
- Ability to build networks and work with a range of people and organisations within communities.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills
