Nursery Practitioner (Unqualified or possible apprenticeship)
Brockworth, Gloucester
Age group: Dependent upon candidate
Ridgemount Cottage Nursery has been at the heart of care and learning for young children in the local community since 1994.
We are a happy, family run and outdoor-focused nursery, set in the idyllic surroundings of our thatched cottage and its acre of grounds: which themselves offer fantastic learning opportunities for our children. Situated at the heart of Brockworth, we’ve always fostered close links with the village community and care passionately about the need for sustainability in all its forms.
Recently Ofsteded, we are happy with the outcome and can now relax. We will be able to share this when it is officially published.
We are looking for a motivated and eager Nursery Practitioner to join our enthusiastic team of able and dedicated colleagues who love what they do. The right candidate should believe in the four pillars of our ethos:
Exploration
Children explore the world around us. And we have so much for them to explore here. We use our extensive outdoor area for children to learn through gardening, woodland play, composting, bug hunts, and den building. They should be able to run, fall on grass and use hand tools. We need you to assist in this and enhance learning where possible.
Discovery
We are working towards our The Curiosity Approach accreditation, and use their ethos to promote “curiosity, awe and wonder” to shape our activities. We want you to inspire the children, encouraging their interests and allowing them to learn through play.
Independence
Are you able to encourage children in independence in making choices in their everyday routine? We support children to make friendships and relationships, creating sociable, happy children who will be confident making friends in the next stage of their journey, whether that’s at Ridgemount or school.
Community
Being family-run and at the centre of a community since 1994 has its benefits. We have Church visits, Library visits, Coffee mornings, trips to the retirement home and much more. We want children to love their close community as well as their larger one, learning to care for nature and the world around them.
So, if you believe in the importance of play as a key principle of learning in early childhood, and in developing young children’s independence, encouraging their natural interests and healthy activities, we want to hear from you.
Your role will be to:
- Engage with children and ensure that they receive the highest possible standards of care and education.
- Ensure children’s environments remain stimulating throughout the day andadd enhancements at appropriate times.
- Be able to follow a routine that works for children and staff and allows for independence wherever possible.
- Promote independence, confidence, and friendships ready for children’s next steps.
Here are just some of the benefits that we’ll offer you:
- a staff bonus scheme
- auto-enrolment in a pension scheme
- a generous 50% staff childcare discount (subject to terms and availability)
- subsidised social events for our staff
- monthly staff recognition scheme to celebrate and reward excellence
- training courses - both online and in-house.
- free onsite parking
- healthcare package
- mentor and buddy systems
