Social Prescriber for the Community Wellbeing Service

South Cotswolds

Are you passionate about helping people, especially those most vulnerable members of our communities? Would you like to have the opportunity to make a positive difference to people’s lives?

GRCC is inviting applications from passionate individuals who would relish the opportunity to play a significant part in supporting individuals on a one-to-one basis as a Social Prescriber working in the south Cotswolds. If you are looking for a part-time role and would like to try your hand at Social Prescribing this would be ideal for you.

We are looking for an energetic 'people person', someone who can support clients in a non-judgemental way, who will also help to build community capacity, creating activities and opportunities for the individuals they are supporting to be engaged in community life, reducing their sense of social isolation and loneliness, and helping them to gain other health benefits. If you have had experience either through a professional role or as a volunteer supporting people on a one-to-one basis this will give you the foundation to build on in this role.

You will be part of an existing Social Prescribing Team who will support you in your learning as well as providing you with a good team working ethic. We will give you training on techniques such as motivational interviewing and health coaching to enable the clients you are working with to form stronger connections with their local community.

We welcome applications from across the breadth of communities we strive to support, and aspire to diversity in our team - including of ethnic background, religion or belief systems, sex, sexuality, or gender identity - as a source of strength.

GRCC is a charitable company with a 100-year history and an exciting future.  Our mission, "to strengthen and champion community action in Gloucestershire", is at the heart of everything we do.We are an organisation with an appetite for change - both around us, and within our team - and we are looking for colleagues with that can-do attitude to play an active role in that journey.

N.B. This is a part-time temporary post (18hrs) until end September 2024 but with a possible extension to this, subject to funding.  The role requires the candidate to be able to work the occasional evening contact with clients and to be able to work flexibly across the working week.

If you do not hear from us within 3 weeks of the closing date then you will not have been shortlisted for the role.

The Job description, Person Specification and Application Form can be found on our website, by clicking on Apply Now.

Salary: £20,500 per annum FTE (after completion of successful probationary period)

Hours Per Week: Part-time (18hrs) – 6 mth contract (with possible extension)
