NVQ Level 3 or higher Nursery Practitioner

Brockworth, Gloucester

Age group: Dependent upon candidate

Ridgemount Cottage Nursery has been at the heart of care and learning for young children in the local community since 1994.

We are a happy, family run and outdoor focused nursery, set in the idyllic surroundings of our thatched cottage and its acre of grounds: which themselves offer fantastic learning opportunities for our children. Situated at the heart of Brockworth, we’ve always fostered close links with the village community and care passionately about the need for sustainability in all its forms.

Recently Ofsteded, we are happy with the outcome and can now relax. We will be able to share this when it is officially published.

We are looking for an Experienced Nursery Practitioner to join our enthusiastic team of able and dedicated colleagues who love what they do. The right candidate should believe in the four pillars of our ethos:

Exploration

Children explore the world around us. And we have so much for them to explore here. We use our extensive outdoor area for children to learn through gardening, woodland play, composting, bug hunts, and den building. They should be able to run, fall on grass and use hand tools. We need you to assist in this and enhance learning where possible. You will have the opportunity to become a Forest School practitioner.

Discovery

We are working towards our The Curiosity Approach accreditation, and use their ethos to promote “curiosity, awe and wonder” to shape our activities. Effective continuous provision should allow many opportunities to support and scaffold each child’s learning and development while they are engaged in their chosen activities.

Independence

Are you able to encourage children in independence in making choices in their everyday routine? We support children to make friendships and relationships, creating sociable, happy children who will be confident making friends in the next stage of their journey, whether that’s at Ridgemount or school.

Community

Being family-run and at the centre of a community since 1994 has its benefits. We have Church visits, Library visits, Coffee mornings, trips to the retirement home and much more. We want children to love their close community as well as their larger one, learning to care for nature and the world around them.

So, if you believe in the importance of play as a key principle of learning in early childhood, and in developing young children’s independence, encouraging their natural interests and healthy activities, we want to hear from you.

Your role will be to:
