Teacher of Maths

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated and driven teacher of Maths to join a highly successful department at Pate’s.
You will be a dynamic, forward thinking, inspiring and energetic teacher. An outstanding classroom
practitioner with a real passion for your subject. You will have the ability to excite able students, along
with being able to explain complex ideas with clarity.
Maths is a thriving departments within our school, with large and successful uptake at A level, therefore you will be able to teach up to and including A level.

The Maths Department
Maths is a thriving and highly successful subject at Pate’s:
- In the Maths department, there are twelve subject specialists who teach throughout the age range.
- Pupils in Years 7 and 8 are taught in forms and then at GCSE we use setting. Nearly half of GCSE Maths entries are at grade 9, and top sets also take GCSE Further Maths.
- Over half the Sixth Form take A level Maths with six or seven single Maths sets per year group, each taught by two teachers, and three or four Further Maths sets, each taught by four teachers. The majority of students get an A or A* grade at A level.
- Pate’s students secure plenty of awards in the UKMT Maths Challenges, and we enjoy hosting speakers and other enrichment opportunities. There is also a weekly Maths Support session for students to get help with their learning.
- It is a friendly, supportive department with a wealth of experience and expertise.
Learning at Pate’s

Job Description
Role Overview
As a Classroom Teacher at Pate’s the role holder will fulfill the professional responsibilities of a teacher and meet the expectations set out in the Teachers Standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Set and maintain high expectations which inspire, motivate, challenge and support pupils.
- Plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school’s curriculum plans.
- Assess, monitor and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils in line with school policies.
- Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils.
- Provide appropriate work for classes during short-term absence, and carry out cover in the unforeseen circumstance that another teacher is unable to teach
- Promote the welfare and safety of all pupils in the school in line with our safeguarding and child protection policies and as set out in the current version of KCSIE.
- Act as a Form Tutor, supporting the development of students in the assigned form group under the guidance of the Head of Year.
The role holder will be required to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with Pate’s policies, ethos, aims and legislative requirements at all times.
