Teaching Assistant/Mentor

Gloucester

Edward Jenner School is a small independent school founded by Manda and Phil Brookes in 2012.

Edward Jenner School is a unique, high quality, small-scale school for all children aged between 5 and 16, situated in the heart of Gloucester. We have fantastic premises in a lovely old building. The school has 5 dedicated teaching rooms, a Science Lab, Library, rest space and several other working areas for practical work and self-study. We have a lovely garden area with outside space for outdoor activities and an additional garden room.

Our ethos is to ensure every child receives an education which is: exciting, engaging, bespoke, academic, holistic and a good fit. We maximise progress, build confidence and prepare for transitions. We know if we love coming to school each day, we've built a great place to work and learn.

Our curriculum develops excellent academic standards by each child following their own personalised learning programme. This is designed specifically in order for them to make maximum progress. We plan for individuals and enjoy developing interesting work schemes and learning programmes.

The candidate will be responsible for providing support for KS2/KS3/KS4 pupils, assisting them in being able to access the curriculum. To be able to work in all aspects of learning within EJS. We would like to appoint a team player who will support the aims and core values of the school.

In addition to this, we would like a teaching assistant/mentor who is comfortable working with pupils either in a 1:1 or group capacity, can build effective, trusting relationships with children, is patient but assertive, a positive role model, has high expectations, flexible, adaptable and able to act proactively to unpredictable situations, is organised, self-motivated and able to use own initiative, willing to walk with pupils on external visits, is fully committed to continued professional development.

Our school is flexible with regards to the hours you would like to work and we are happy to consider part time, including reduced hours and the beginning and end of day to support child care needs.
