Advanced Autism Support Worker
Nailsworth
£15 - £40 per hour depending on relevant qualifications and experience + Freelance autism youth work/support worker job offered in Nailsworth, Stroud to start asap pending checks, interview and a successful paid trial. Increased hourly pay rate available for applicants with relevant and up to date/registered occupational therapy/psychology qualified/ teaching/youth work/nurse qualifications or similar.
Key facts of role offered:
- Working with a much loved, happy, (generally) enthusiastic 12 year old autistic male tween who is ‘2E’ (twice exceptional- gifted and delayed) and has very high level sensory processing and sensory modulation differences, auditory processing disorder and situational mutism and depending on approach can be demand avoidant and has some autism and sensory related anxiety at times.
- Home based role and ‘out and about’ in our communal outdoor areas, at clubs and events etc. long term plan is for x to go to school (his wishes which are supported) and this work will support that process and is expected to continue either as 121 support in the school or as youth work mentor/support alongside school.
- Full support/induction/trial period and learning time given paid so you can support well and confidently.
- Parent is direct employer and is an autism & education professional and on hand to help, guide and enable sucess of the role. Please note: ‘Drop in’ feature on ‘Amazon Alexa’s’ will be used at random as part of safeguarding culture during any ‘lone working’. More on me: www.yasminadarling.com

Applicant musts:
- Autism experienced and respectful
- Fun, warm, non sarcastic good sense of humor
- Health and safety, mental health & first aid informed, vigilant and aware (training offered if required)
- Outdoorsey, fit, healthy and quick witted/‘on your toes’ (this child moves fast sometimes!)
- Able to build a rapport and lasting valued, trusting relationship that feels safe and enjoyable
- Practical, good life skills and tech savvy
- Can educate as they go in casual non oppressive manner
- Enhanced online clear DBS police check (can be obtained if needed) and verifiable relevant CV (will be checked thoroughly) and x 2 references
- Good knowledge of local area and clean driving licence and own car desirable but not essential.
- Good personal hygiene, clean & tidy and well organised. No perfumes and sprays please! (Allergies)
- Must like animals, cat in home so having an allergy is not viable sorry
- Good mental & physical health and calming well regulated demeanour
- Fun!
- Patient, caring, tolerant, kind and confidence building.
