The Federation of Gardners Lane and Oakwood Primary Schools are looking to appoint a Parent Support Advisor to work alongside the staff in helping support parents and children within our school community.
We are looking for someone with great listening skills; a calm and confident approach to difficult situations and the ability to work well in a team.
The PSA will work directly with parents in a non-judgemental way, empowering them and their families to get the most out of the educational opportunities available.
Focussing their work on preventative and early intervention activities. They will work with families where presenting needs are below the thresholds that trigger the involvement of specialist services and other agencies.
The right candidate needs to have high levels of empathy and understanding; be able to listen, support and challenge parents and work with them to get the very best educational outcomes for the children.
The role involves working closely with external agencies to close the gaps of inequality that exist and ensure children are able to access education in a way that allows them to aspire and achieve.
PSA’s form a vital part of our Safeguarding team and will hold responsibility as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead across the Federation alongside other Senior leaders. They will be required to attend Safeguarding meetings and follow up safeguarding concerns in line with the school’s policies.
The role is permanent, all year round, 37 hours a week at Grade 7.
If you would like to be part of our dedicated and supportive team, please apply by 1pm on Friday 28th February. Please email admin@gardnerslane.gloucs.sch.uk or telephone 01242 515761 for an application pack. Please note: We do not accept CV’s.
We will require details of two referees within the application form. We will obtain references for all shortlisted candidates prior to interview.
In accordance with our data retention policy, we will keep all paperwork related to the recruitment of this post for 6 months after which it will be destroyed.
Gardners Lane and Oakwood Federation aims to be an equal opportunities employer and is determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or race.
We may carry out online searches of all shortlisted candidates, in order to identify any incidents or issues that have happened, and are publicly available online, which we might want to explore with the applicant at interview.
Only applicants selected for interview will be contacted. Therefore, applicants who have not heard from school within 2 weeks of the closing date should assume that they have not been shortlisted.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff, and volunteers, to share the same commitment. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
