Description
Intelligence Researchers form part of the analytical function of an intelligence unit. Their primary role is to provide research to support the Analysts and Intelligence officers.
The position requires the provision of research and analytical support in the analysis of information and intelligence from computerised and manual sources relating to crime and criminal activity, including:
- Gathering, processing and collating information and intelligence from various sources.
- Assist in the identification of areas where additional information or intelligence is required and request relevant data for further research.
- Use appropriate research techniques to identify crime and incident patterns and trends. Compare relevant information and manipulate data into a suitable format for analysis.
- Assist with the compilation of intelligence packages, targeting specific areas or types of crime.
Produce research and analytical findings in an appropriate format including:
- Preparing written and visual reports and delivers oral briefings.
- Assessing previous and current crimes and incidents in order to establish the probability of future activity.
